So here we are.... Last days of August and I've barely blogged. Gah! I keep saying that I'll try to do better and I fall far short of it. So, let me just try to get back into the habit of weekly blogs, and go from there.
I photographed some some of my finished paintings yesterday and I have to say that I'm fairly disappointed in how the varnished ones look. I'll post them here as opposed to putting them in my gallery. I'm definitely going to have to fix a couple. I really wish they would teach an entire class on the finishing aspect of painting. Instead of hit-or-miss here or there. I now have two crackled panels that are warping. I have a large canvas that will need to be stripped and re-varnished. And I'm now hesitant to varnish anything else. School is going well. I've got this mental tally going in my brain...one down, 15 more to go, etc. I have my interesting classes and ones that are going to be a challenge to me. Not because I don't understand the subject matter, but because either the professor is unorganized or the class description wasn't anything like what the class is. We'll see how the semester unfolds. It's nice to be seeing familiar faces around campus and have fellow students come up to me and ask how my summer was. Anyhow...that's all the news for now. I miss the ocean already. I'm still peeling like a bitch. Maybe in another couple of weeks it will calm down. Maybe. I have a painting (watercolor) that is begging to be painted. Must find some time soon!
