I got tied up doing things yesterday, so missed my normal posting! Status quo on school currently. I'm just trying to power through everything. Too many balls juggling over the past couple of weeks. Sooooooo many written assignments. I haven't a clue how I did on most of them (no grades yet), but I can't worry about it too much because I have more to focus on. Ahhhh....life of a college student.
Art seems to be going really well currently. Ink drawings are turning out nicely. My autumn painting is coming along. Okay....that's an understatement. It's becoming a very special painting. Kinda like "Hush" when I was painting it (it is in Gallery - look for snow and birch trees). I just knew it was going to be special and it kept unfolding to be better and better with each stage. Same with this painting. I had someone even say they would love to have it hanging in their house and how to make that happen. Well......it would have to be purchased and with the size and the amount of work I've put into it.....I'm thinking in the $850-1000 price range. It's a big (for me) canvas, and there's a lot of time invested. I responded with "gotta let me finish" and left it at that. The LAST time I was contacted about someone who "loved my work" and "I really want it"...it was a disaster. I know that not everyone is educated on art and pricing and what factors into the price of a piece. Here's the other thing....I'd really like to hang onto this piece for a bit. Sounds strange as opposed to having cash in hand, but it's true. If I have the opportunity to have it hung in a gallery - I'd take it in a heartbeat. I guess we'll see as I work toward completing it. It's about 2/3's done. Then it has to cure and varnish. I get impatient for the varnishing stage, because once I pour it on, it makes all the colors just pop. Hoping to finish it in time for presentation I have next week in my Studio Art class. Every chance I get to stay true to my own viewpoint in that class, feels like such a win. Art encompasses all kinds. When you narrow your scope, you narrow your world - and for a teacher to be narrow-minded about art...you question their authority over what they are teaching. Yes, you can have technique and perspective and opinion. BUT....when you only teach one genre when the subject matter is supposed to be ALL genres, you question and discount the source. Okay....I'm stumbling over my words currently. I feel like I'm neglecting my blog these past weeks. I think I'm going to go back to writing throughout the week, and then doing a big edit for the post on Saturdays. That way, I'm not over-taxing my wee brain for the post. Ha! (insert winkie emoji here) That's it for me. Have a good week and do good things everyone!
