I know my peeps....I've definitely been MIA from my blog lately. School-life has been epic, to say the least. I just survived mid-terms for this semester....barely. I now have a killer cold that I'm hoping doesn't settle in my chest, but I can already feel the rattle starting when I cough (which is all the time). Sigh. I'm thinking positive thoughts and will be heading home to bed here shortly.
The battle continues with Ceramics class. I refuse to give in, but I also refuse to be bullied. I will get through this.
Figure Drawing, well drawing in general is not my thing. I'm not one to sit and draw for hours. I like quick gestural sketches. I like to get a suggestion. I like to finish one area on the drawing and leave the rest to suggestion. SO not what Alfred is wanting from me! Thank goodness he said we could use figurative drawings from other classes, otherwise I would never have survived the mid-term portfolio review. Never. I pulled off a 3.5 out of 4 - which, I think he gave me a 2 on one of the drawings on purpose so that I wouldn't have an A and work harder. He's tricky like that. I think he's going to be very surprised with my final portfolio.
Print-making is cruising along. I'm enjoying the process of playing with the techniques that Aaron is teaching. I'm about to bring out the big guns and combine collage and painting here with the next set of work.
Art History has been the source of most of my stress. The professor has been out of the country and we've been watching lots of videos in class. Not the best for the weeks leading up to mid-terms. Especially for these classes where we have a list of like 35-40 terms or questions to learn and memorize and then he will test you on maybe two. Plus having to learn dates to go along with all those terms too. There were many early mornings leading up to Thurs/Fri test dates.
My week ended with being honored for my grades for last semester - Academic Distinction (GPA 3.50-3.99). I was so glad that Dad came and saw me get my special cord (see the red/blue cord around my neck in pic above?) I'll wear at graduation in a few short months. Crazy to think that in a little less than 7 months I'll have my BFA with Academic Distinction. I'm going to stop thinking about "and then what" and focus on what's in front of me now. Part of that is due to sheer survival and part of that I'm tired of being so stressed out of grad school/no grad school.... Well, that's the plan for today.
Okay...I'm off. Must get to bed. Big hugs everyone.
