HOLY CRAP IT'S FEBRUARY!
How does time fly so fast?? I'm telling you, it feels like the speed of light sometimes. It doesn't help that I'm super busy and every day is crammed full of either school, studio time, work or necessary chores (and believe me, those are minimal). When I have rare free time, I spend it with my dad (which hasn't been enough) or crashing and trying to catch up with reading or tv shows or painting. I know when Spring Break rolls around in March, I'm going to be more than ready for some Susan-time. The decision to drop Italian class was valid. It's always nice to have solidification that a decision you've made was the right one. I picked up eight more hours at work to help with incoming money. I'd like to move out of my current apartment. Yeah. I really can't believe I just said that after moving last May. BUT...my place is too small, there's too many smokers who impact my daily living, it's too roach-infested, and I'd like to be closer to the University. I really need a dedicated art space. So we'll see how this unfolds over the next several months. Moving is never fun. Never. This past week has been crazy with good news. I made Dean's List for grades at UA. All it took was those grades from 1985 to finally be dropped and my true light could shine! I was notified that I'm the recipient of another scholarship that was a complete and total shock to me. Nice to wake up to surprises like that! And my painting teacher notified me that he wants two of my paintings to be submitted to the annual 2D Exhibition at school. So no more can I hold off on framing my big oil painting. I'll be working on that this afternoon. I changed out my home page image so that it's now "Autumn Memories". The photo doesn't do it justice at all. Believe me. School is plugging along too. I'm trying to settle into my Mixed Media/Collage class. Still don't know exactly what to make of it, but I'm trying my hardest to keep an open mind about it. I'm loving my Art History class. Seriously loving it. We do a museum visit next week and believe me.... I CAN'T WAIT!! Ceramics class is going well. I'm definitely learning to make the most of studio time, because I don't want to get behind. So far, I'm ahead, and that is right where I want to stay. I really hope this upcoming week we'll be firing our work. I'm going to post a few photos here of current works in progress of not only the ceramic stuff, but also my current paintings for class. Which that's going well too. We had our first critique on Thursday - he was really tough on me, but I didn't get emotional about it. I know he was doing that because 1) I can take it; and 2) because he knows he needs to push me to my full potential. Okay....that's it for me. Have a great week everyone! Remember: positive out, positive in. It really seems to be working for me! Do something nice for someone! :)
