A day late but a BUNCH of stuff to share!! I switched my work days this week in order to have a rare Friday/Saturday off - which in the normal world, this would be called days off, but in my world it's only a switch since I work three and then am off four. I digress.... Anyhow, my birthday was Friday and I have this "thing" that I don't like to work on my birthday. One, because I've found that people like to make a big deal when someone is having a birthday. The thought of having numerous people wish me happy birthday when they normally don't talk to me...yeah, I just don't roll like that. I'll never forget just starting to work at Trader Joe's and they insisted we celebrate my birthday. I've never felt more awkward or embarrassed to have 30-plus people who I really didn't know sing Happy Birthday to me. I'm all for it should be a choice of the person turning one year older whether they want balloons and singing, or would rather have the quiet maybe a card in the mail celebration. :) Yes, I'm funny that way.
I finally had a creative break-through this week too. I've been feeling very stifled with my art this summer. Too much shit is what I'm chalking it up to. Many attempts at stuff. A lot of work that will never see the light of day. Sorry Michael, but when I die, you'll discover a box with all my rejects in it. Maybe you'll think there are some treasures, but I'm calling it the box of doom. lol I finally, though, have had some success this week. I'm learning that despite the roadblocks you have to push through - and that applies to either art or life in general. I'm working on a couple of paintings and yesterday I made easels with my dad for my wood slice paintings. Photos of all this in my little montage posted. That's about it for me. Summer is winding down. School starts in a couple of weeks. I can't wait to get going again and learn new stuff. I'm very hopeful for this semester of classes. Have a great week everyone and do good things!
